JAZZ & PARSONS PROJECT

Jaume Vilaseca, piano, voice

The pianist Jaume Vilaseca presents his ninth album entitled "Jazz & Parsons Project", in which he recreates the music of the composers Eric Woolfson and Alan Parsons, especially from the first and successful concept albums of the late 70s: (Tales of Mystery and Imagination 1976, 1 Robot 1977, Pyramid 1978, Eve 1979, Turn of a Friendly Card 1980, Eye in the Sky 1982).

Recorded and mixed during the months of the first confinement due to the pandemic in his personal "homestudio", the pianist evokes the atmospheres of those unforgettable vinyls, handcrafting electronic bases that inspire him to improvise. This will sometimes sound like classic jazz (some songs have strong theatrical or cinematographic reminiscences) or others like blues, be bop, funk...

Live, the interpretation of the songs is a true journey through the piano, a session of evocative images where the melodies can lead to memories or simply to emotion, and the improvisations to ecstasy or pure relief. The keys glide intrepidly both in the ballads and in the more rhythmic songs, the voice brings us closer to the shy but convinced crooner, and finally, some electronic notes that act as a contrast in a magical evening.
